Advanced Medical Optics announced a voluntary recall of its Complete Moisture Plus TM contact lens solution products. The recall was initiated because of concerns that the product was contaminated and could cause serious eye injury. If you use this product, discontinue use immediately and if you are experiencing problems see your eye doctor immediately. Adverse reactions should be reported immediately to the FDA's MedWatch Program by calling 1-800--FDA-1088. 46 injuries have been reported to date. The infections can cause severe pain and possible loss of vision, although the infection may appear initially to be a more common type of eye infection. The voluntary recall is another example of the civil justice system possibly preventing injuries as the recall may not have occurred had the manufacturer not feared the consequences of being held responsible for needless injuries.
